Here's exactly what to expect when you commission a custom pet portrait with us.
Step 1: Choose Your Portrait Style
We offer three main portrait options, each suited to different tastes and spaces:
- Watercolor Pet Portrait from your photo — our most popular commission, painted on fine watercolor paper with luminous, hand-mixed pigments.
- Custom Watercolor Portrait Illustration from Photo — a softer, more illustrative interpretation, ideal for a storybook quality.
- Custom Pet Portrait on Canvas — a gallery-ready canvas painting, rich in texture and presence.
Step 2: Place Your Order and Share Your Photo
Once you've selected your portrait style and size, place your order through the shop. You'll then send us your chosen reference photo — ideally a clear, well-lit image that captures your pet's personality. Not sure which photo to use? Step 3: We Begin Painting
Every portrait is painted entirely by hand in our family studio in Bulgaria. We work with care and intention, building up layers of colour and detail to capture not just the appearance of your pet, but their character. This is not a print or a digital illustration — it is a genuine, one-of-a-kind original painting.
Step 4: Review and Approval
Before we ship, we share a high-resolution photograph of the finished painting for your review. If you have any feedback, we'll discuss it together. We want you to love the result completely.
Step 5: Careful Packaging and Worldwide Shipping
Your portrait is packaged with archival materials to protect it during transit and shipped worldwide. Watercolor paintings are rolled in protective tissue and sent in a sturdy tube; canvas portraits are carefully wrapped and boxed.
A Note on Timelines
Each portrait is made to order and painted by hand, so please allow time for the creative process. Current production times are listed on each product page. If you're ordering as a gift with a specific date in mind, we recommend ordering early and letting us know — we'll always do our best to accommodate you.
